Terrabank is proud to announce that Chief Financial Officer Maria Elena Riera was honored as a 2026 South Florida Business Journal CFO Awards recipient during the January 29 ceremony at the Sport of Kings Theater at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach.
The annual CFO Awards program recognizes senior financial executives across South Florida for leadership, financial expertise and contributions to their organizations and the business community. The program highlights finance leaders who play a key role in guiding their organizations through changing economic conditions while supporting long-term stability and performance.
“Maria Elena is an exceptional leader and a trusted steward of Terrabank’s financial strength,” said Antonio Uribe, president and CEO of Terrabank. “Her strategic insight and commitment to sound governance have been instrumental to our success, and we are proud to see her recognized with this honor.”
Riera is responsible for managing the Bank’s accounting and finance activities, including the management of a $250 million investment portfolio. As CFO, Riera also serves on several of the Bank’s boards, including the Strategic Planning Committee, Bank Secrecy Act Committee and Audit Committee. She has also taken an active role in the Bank’s Digital Transformation Team.

For 20 years Riera has served as a board director of the South Florida Banking Institute, a nonprofit organization that provides educational opportunities and helps foster relationships within the banking community. She is also actively involved with the AAA Scholarship Foundation, which provides partners with the opportunity to redirect state tax liability to create educational scholarships for underserved and academically disadvantaged children.
She received both her MBA and bachelor’s degree in finance from Florida International University.
